We were pleased to read that the Dental Sector in Victoria is sending a clear message that Bullying and Harassment will not be tolerated in the workplace. In an Australian first for the health sector, the dental professions have signed a joint position statement against bullying, harassment and inappropriate behaviour.
It is the first time any group of health professionals have come together to say no to inappropriate workplace cultures in such a powerful way. And it firmly begins the discussion that needs to be had at a much wider level about workplace culture.
The signing was witnessed and endorsed by Victorian Health and Ambulance Services Minister the Hon. Jill Hennessy MP. Dental Health Services Victoria (DHSV) CEO, Dr Deborah Cole, said the Statement is an important first step towards transforming the dental profession into an even better place to work in.
It will be interesting to watch if the Dental Profession extends their policies on bullying and harassment to technology enabled abuse.
